What California's leaders are doing to help victims of Katrina

Schwarzenegger calls on Californians to donate blood, money; sends National Guard

Boxer calls on FEMA to speed up aid, asks for monitoring of oil industry to ward against price gouging, and writes open letter to President Bush

Feinstein merely sends her sympathies

From what I can find, Dana Point, Temecula, Rancho Santa Margarita, and Irvine are the only local cities that mention donating to victims of the disaster. Perhaps the other cities will catch up once the holiday weekend is over.

No news in the LA Times or the SD Union-Tribune about how to help the victims other than donating to the Red Cross, etc., but the North County Times makes mention of several local businesses and organizations raising donations. (Encouraging news for us, Barbara!)
